Winners of 18th Deaflympics snowboard competition Sean and Blair Esson from USA will take unusual present back home with them – a jar with pinecone jam. Official mascot of the Games Mammoth presented the jam to brothers on behalf of all organizers.

Not so long ago, mother of the champions Leslie Esson wrote a heartwarming letter to the organizing committee: “ Thank you for respecting my sons. I know this competition will be one of the best experiences of their lives. Thank you to the Minister of Sports for the Russian Federation, and thank you to all the interpreters, volunteers, athletes, technicians, etc… and thank you Russia! What a great symbol of international support-hosting a Deaf Olympics and showing the world how young, Deaf athletes are ambassadors for World Unity and Harmony”

The Mammoth thanked brothers for spectacular performance during the Games in Khanty-Mansiysk and asked brothers to give their mother a jar of jam as a sigh of gratitude for such supportive and nice words.

In slope-style competition Blair Esson got the golden medal and his brother Sean Esson won the bronze. During the half-pipe qualification both brothers showed very impressive skills in snowboarding. The performance was so powerful that it brought Blair the second golden medal (90,3 points in finals) and Sean took the silver with 84,0 points.
