Deaflympics Medals 2015

Traditionally, the top three athletes in all competitions of the Winter Deaflympics will be awarded with medals. Yesterday the organizing committee of the Games has received all medal sets from the manufacturer.

The medals feature a black-grouse – a logo of the Deaflympics. All of them are identical except for their color and the names of sport disciplines engraved on them. The stylized grouse symbolizes wealth in culture of Khanty people. Besides, the logo looks like a hand of a man – which is the main device for communication of deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes.

All medals have gloss finish with decorative metal coating of three types – gold, silver and bronze. The diameter of medals is 80 mm, their width is 6 mm. Deaflympics medals are made of zinc fusion and are decorated with the multi-colored ribbon with brand identity of the forthcoming Games.

To be noted that the 18th Winter Deaflympics will start in Khanty-Mansiysk on March’28. The Opening Ceremony will be held in the Tennis Centre at 20:15 (8:15 pm). During the ceremony the Deaflympics cauldron will be lighted on the central square of Khanty-Mansiysk.

The total number of medal events that will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk and Magnitogorsk is 31. In the end of every competitions day the awarding ceremonies will take place on the central square of Khanty-Mansiysk. The Closing Ceremony will be conducted on April 2015. This will also be the day of finals in ice-hockey, curling, alpine skiing and snowboard.
